2011 A-Recruitment

Fraternity Row BBQ

With the help of Phi Delta Theta, Delta Tau Delta, and FIJI, we were able to create a successful recruitment event across Fraternity Row.  There were approximately 25 freshmen at this event.   Each house created three putt-putt holes.  People were separated into different groups, where they started at various holes to help alleviate waiting time.  It was a good way for the brothers to get to know the freshmen in a casual environment, while eating or playing putt-putt.

Poker & Chicken Wings

The event started in the house eating wings in the dining room.  Brothers made two different flavors of wings, consisting of BBQ and Buffalo.  From there the freshman and brothers either played poker or volleyball.  The winners of the poker tournament received gift certificates to Buffalo Wild Wings or Best Buy.  There were two freshmen which received prizes.  There were 8 freshmen at the event.

Steak n Volleyball

Brothers and Freshmen enjoyed the marinated steaks which were well prepared ahead of time.  Together they congregated in the canal and devoured the food.  After eating, people either played volleyball or sat and talked in the canal.  It was a relaxing environment to further know the 8 Freshmen which attended the event.

Salvo Bowling

Brothers went to Salvation Army to purchase breakable items to place in the canal to be destroyed by bowling balls.  During the event TV’s, glass bottles, and monitors were decimated by people throwing a bowling balls.  At the very end of the event everyone was given a breakable item (ie. ceramic mug) to throw all at once to finish the event.  Even though there were only 5 freshmen this event was a blast.

Beach Day

On Saturday, brothers and 4 freshmen drove to the nearby Silver Lake.  Brothers grilled hamburgers and hotdogs at the picnic area for lunch.  After eating, several people went into the lake, where people threw the football, played chicken, and fought over the inflatable raft.  Also, to continue the tradition brothers and freshman swam to the island in the middle of the lake to exhaust their extra energy.
