At around 11 AM graduate brother Steve Purvis visited the house to give some pointers and direct us on how to complete a few tasks. Unfortunately Steve had to leave shortly after, but his help was much appreciated. After divvying out tasks the following was completed:

1. Floor Tile in the hallway outside of the laundry room. The floor was broken up here in order to clean out the drain system so new tile was layed.
2. Floor tile by the sliding glass windows. Tile here was pulled up for some reason. New tile replaced the cracked tile and correctly aligned.
3. The vent from the dryer to outside was repaired and replaced. A pipe was placed in the wall and sealed for proper exhaust flow. Also, the vent outside was sealed from outside elements.
4. All lights around the house were repaired as well as a bulb holder. 9 flood lights were replaced and 2 fluorescent bulbs were replaced. 2 more bulb holders need to be replaced on the front sides of the house as they are old fluorescent housings and bulbs are too difficult to find.
5. The sidewalk block from the parking lot to the door was replaced as well as lifting a block which created a lip before the stairs. These were noted as safety hazards by our insurance inspector.
6. The door leading to the porch was shaved in order to close properly.
7. All burned out inside light bulbs were replaced and ballasts were noted where new ballasts need to be replaced. Graduate brother Vince has priced these out for us and we will be budgeting to purchase 5.
8. The furnace door is falling off of the hinges but has been replaced so many times we will need a new fire door. This is outside of our budget and will have to be taken care another term.
9. “The Hole” door needs to be repined and re-hung. This was outside of our time frame and could not complete it.

It was a very productive work weekend and as always could have been more productive. We will need to re-seed the front yard as the roofers were kind enough to grade the front yard for free. Steve Purvis is attempting to put together a to-do list for future work weekends.
